HermèsFit at the Hollywood Athletic Club Was a Playful Experience That I'm Glad I Left the House For

My motivation to leave the house has drastically changed over the past few years. Prior to the pandemic, I was single, performing four jobs (creative producer, DJ, manager, radio host), and was out for what felt like almost every night of the week. Present day, I can typically be found chilling at home, and usually only leave my sanctuary to try a new restaurant, enjoy local California travel, or see a dear friend.

Being in a crowd during a global pandemic - one currently ranging in our city again - has zero appeal to me. My instincts are telling me to remain inside instead of going out. I consider these feelings daily. Was it simply a shift in priorities? Getting married? Seeing people die? Valuing my life more than I ever had? Or is it merely my own survival tool? Whatever the case, the change feels permanent at this moment.

Hèrmes managed to pull me out of my nest when the luxury fashion company booked house musician Damar Davis for their 5-day HèrmesFit lineup. Damar has been a friend of mine for years and from 2019-2020 I had the delight of managing his career. He’s absolutely lovely to work with and it has been amazing to witness his star rise. I had to pull up and show support.

I first saw a profile of HèrmesFit in California Magazine which detailed how the luxury brand would be taking over the Hollywood Athletic Club on Sunset Blvd for an immersive experience that combined accessories and sport. Having worked on Prada Mode LA this spring, I had an idea of what to expect, although I knew it wouldn’t compare to the brilliant two-day, two-night event that instantly became the hottest club during Frieze Week in Los Angeles.
