It is a personal goal of mine to see as many James Turrell Skyspaces before I leave this Earth. As with any collection, it starts small, but it has to start. I am fortunate to live on the West Coast which is home to 12 of his installations although a few of them are in private collections (one I’ve had the privilege of experiencing). Before arriving in Arizona I checked my Turrell Skyspace list to make note of any destinations and managed to visit 2 of the 3, the third is Roden Crater which is not complete nor open to my understanding.

Knight Rise (2001) Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Scottsdale, Arizona

Engaging with art in nature is something I am deeply passionate about. If you find yourself in Arizona please stop by these free public installations and relax. Unplug and take in the beauty of the Earth.
