Farmshop

It's not every day I find myself on the Westside, but brunch at Farmshop is one of the best reasons to find yourself at the Brentwood Country Mart in Santa Monica. If you have never been to the Mart, let me explain this post little spot. It's shaped like a barn, but let there be no confusion, there is nothing country or farm-like about this space. What was once intended to be the Westside version of the Farmer's Market at Third & Fairfax is now home to some of L.A.'s favorite luxury staples like James Perse and Jenni Kayne. If you're looking for the latest Céline glasses, Cire Trudon candles or fine stationery, you'll find it all here. After you eat brunch at Farmshop that is.

Farmshop has a great interior – it's open air with beautiful velvet booths, rope lights, and a sweet little market on the opposite side of the dining area. It's the kind of place that hits all of the marks of a nice restaurant without feeling exclusionary. And the vibes for brunch are exactly what you want them to be on a weekend afternoon.

We ordered the following: French Toast with vanilla bean curd, macerated strawberries, Zoe’s bacon & crown maple syrup / House Made Pastrami & Poached Eggs with English peas, pea tendrils, garden radish & torn mint / Oatmeal made with steel-cut oats, served with dried sour cherries, brown sugar & buttermilk / Shirred Egg with bloomsdale spinach, lamb merguez, Medjool dates & chermoula, and last but certainly not least French fries. When I am surveying a brunch menu, it's crucial that I taste a variety of the dishes as to better inform my readers of their options. Typically you have 2 options – a sweet or savory brunch, but if you have the right kind of friends, you can share all of the above. Not a single one of these plates disappointed me, in fact, they were all brunch bangers.

I can without hesitation tell you that the poached eggs with house-cured pastrami is one of the best brunches dishes that have ever passed these lips. If you love eggs and savory meats in the morning, may I suggest you bump this to the top of your brunch list right now. Don't sleep on it.
