Mississippi Masala Chicken Wings
I love fried chicken, truly. When I got word that there was a modern Indian restaurant in Culver City serving masala spiced fried chicken wings, I knew I had to go sniff these babies out for the good of the people. Although I had a large tasting of Sāmbār's lunch menu, it was the chicken wings that without a doubt took the #1 spot on the table. In true wing fashion, there were dipping sauces involved, but not your standard ranch or blue cheese.
Instead, these were served with a seasonal fruit chutney and malabar hot sauce, reminiscent of tamarind and mint chutney, which made for heavenly pairing.
If you are anything like me and live for these types of flavors, you will enjoy immersing your wings in both these sweet and spicy sauces. The wings are of substantial proportion and the serving of six are enough for a meal. The crispy skin is packed with Indian flavors and the meat is juicy and tender. Definitely a spin on fried chicken I can get behind.
