A couple of things have inspired me to finally write my Short Order recap. One is that I have been gluten/dairy/sugar-free for the past two months and last Friday I found myself making love to a juicy burger over at Public School with my friend Joanne. The burger was divine but unfortunately it was followed with my infamous gluten-rash, hence why I have given up on this demon. The burger heaven I was temporarily whisked off to reminded me of a lovely lunch date I had at Short Order back in December with my homegirl DJ Sosupersam. Oh the days of bun eating!
Apparently Short Order has caused a shit storm of polarizing reviews on Yelp, food blogs and beyond. I am adding my two cents to the game, and since you read this here blog, I know you’ve been dying for my verdict. I prefer my burgers to be classic so I ordered up Ida’s Old School Burger, made with grass-fed beef, Widmer’s aged cheddar, SQIRL handmade pickles, rosso bruno tomatoes, griddled onion, iceberg lettuce, and secret sauce. My friend Sam and I opted to split the Short Order Spuds, I’m glad we did as the serving was quite large!
The burger was tasty and I’m not opposed to spending $12 for quality ingredients. I need my meat to be juicy with blood & liquids running down my face and Ida’s Old School did this for me. A delicious bun, crispy lettuce and squirting-with-each-bite grass-fed beef is right up my alley. Could the patty have been seasoned more? Absolutely. My favorite burger in L.A.? No, but if I’m at the Farmers Market of Grove and need some beef, I’ll definitely revisit this cute spot on the corner of Fairfax/3rd.
