Though Fall has officially arrived on the calendar, here in Los Angeles we are still enjoying summer weather. With warmer temperatures, I find happiness with an ice-cold agua fresca and of course one on my favorite dishes, ceviche. I had been anticipating the grand re-opening of Dorados, which is now Dorados Ceviche Bar and it was well worth the wait. Owned by the culinary masters behind Cooks Tortas, located just further down the street, Dorados has boasts some of the best ceviche in Southern California.
Upon arriving at the ceviche bar I scanned the minimal menu, a deli case showcasing beautiful bowls of freshly prepared ceviche and a barrel of the finest sandia (watermelon) agua fresca. My eyes quickly found the “ceviche sampler” (just under $10) which entailed a serving of all the ceviches-of-the-day. If you are a ceviche lover like myself or just want a taste of the whole gamut, I highly recommend the sampler.
My two favorites of the ceviche, though all incredibly tasty, were the Agua Chile (spicy shrimp) and Pulpo Escabeche (octopus). I’ve documented my love for pulpo on this here blog and it was such a delight eating Dorado’s take on it. We ordered a couple tacos for good measure and while tasty, I’d say go all out and get ceviche everything!

true or false: I drank 3 of these
