Jamberry Nails

Jamberry Nails

I love having nails that make a statement and because of this I always have my peepers open for what new thing I can try out. When nail shield company Jamberry Nails contacted me about their product – after seeing my various blog posts & Instagram photos of nail love – I was super psyched. Previous to trying Jamberry Nail Shields, I had only sampled some sticker decals that ended looking like a hot mess. This time around I was crossing my fingers that this experiment would be a success.

Enlisting the help of a nail loving friend Denise was a must as I didn’t think I could do this alone. Her extra hands definitely aided in the beauty of the final look, but her and I both feel confident that we could do it on our own after this. So what’s the deal? Let me break it down. These decals are a type of plastic that you heat up with a blow dryer, press on the nail, smooth out and trim. Absolutely no nail polish necessary!

Choosing from over 150 styles was tough and in the end Paint Splatter won out. Everyone has digging my new look and with over a week on my fingers they still look pretty bomb. You know my recommendations are legit and I give these the NJ thumb’s up!

Madeline Poole Nails

MP Nails

Madeline Poole Nails, also known as MP Nails on Twitter & Instagram, offer up some of my favorite nail designs in Los Angeles. I was pumped when I received an email from OOGA BOOGA Bookstore on Saturday announcing a MP Nail pop up they’d be hosting the following day and I quickly put it on my list of things to do. Two accent nails for $5? Count me in buddy!

I was first turned on to the styles of MP Nails when I attended the Pretty Penny Stock launch back in March – you can see my first nail design by Madeline here. My experience was fun, easy and most important, laid back. Since I recently started following MP Nails on Instagram I knew I was in for a treat with all of her new summer styles she had been posting. It was difficult to pick out which two designs I was going to flaunt. Take a look: panda, polka dots, leopard, camo – the decision was hard, am I right? I opted for the smiley face and the drip in neon green. Since I already rolled up with neon orange nails, I thought I should just keep with the brights.

My long time pal Denise happily joined me on this nail outing as she’s been obsessed with nails ever since I can I remember. We cozied up at Madeline’s nail station and were treated to some champagne. Baller status. Our nails were painted in no time and we were both squealing with joy. Cannot wait until I hit MP Nails again! Which design is your favorite?

Wah Nails

WAH Nailsphotos via WAH Instagram

WAH Nails is the raddest nail salon that I have never been to. I first discovered this East London nail shop when a bunch of girls/ladies/women I follow on Instagram visited their NYC pop up shop and started posting their photos like crazy. I immediately followed WAH (you should too @wahnails) and have been in love ever since. So much nail inspiration, so little time!

Luckily for you and I, WAH Nails has a book coming out this summer. Now if they could just have a pop up in L.A. all would be perfect!

Which one is your fave?

Gel Nails

Gel Nails

Duuuuudes, I am addicted to gel nails. For only $20 in the SGV (San Gabriel Valley) and with a life span of 3 weeks on my hands, this is the solution for people like me who have OCD when it comes to their fingers. I really hate chipping – especially next day chipping – and with gel polish I don’t even have to break a sweat thinking I am going to jack up my hands. Here are a few of my favorite colors over the past couple months. I am rocking that deep purple as we speak.

Tell me your gel stories: favorite brands, nail houses, techniques!

It just so happened that both Tania and I had our nails done before our retreat in Joshua Tree. Her nails, beautifully painted by Kleur, were absolutely stunning and perfect for the Mojave landscape. If you live in L.A. and aren’t hip to the ladies of Kleur, let me be the first to tell you that they have mad skills. If you need nail art designs that will impress your friends, visit Kleur asap.

My nails, for those of you who sent me messages dying to know, are what I call my new addiction: gel nails! The brand is Gelish and unfortunately I don’t remember the color name/number. What I can tell you is that my last gel manicure lasted one month and I might never go back to the regular stuff.

Digging the Vena Cava beverage cozy?

These aren’t my nails…yet.  I saw this photo when I was peering into the brains of Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai over on the Viva Vena Cava blog. These nails will be perfecto for our Utah trip coming up.  I’ll be sporting these Holy Mountain nails and Asael a “Where the hell is Moab” t-shirt while we hike the trails of Zion and Bryce.
