Every year my family and I take a week long trip to one of the spots on our long list of destinations. In a few days we are headed to beautiful Puerto Rico for an early celebration of my birthday. Though we haven’t even boarded the plane for our adventure, my Dad and I got talking the other day about next year’s trip as it’ll be his choice. Steve James is talking Europe and it has me psyched. My father especially wants to see the United Kingdom, Italy and Switzerland, all very different but each very exciting. Funny enough, just a couple days ago I was introduced to a new restaurant in London called 100 Hoxton, which might make it onto my list of places to eat if we make it across the pond.
If you are looking for a cocktail bar in Shoredictch , this new jawn looks like it’s poppin with a menu that boasts Asian fusion and unique drinks. I especially have my eye on their signature cocktail called the 100 Hoxton, made with ginger, lemongrass, chili syrup, lychee liqueur and champagne. In fact, I wish I had one in my hand as I was writing this. For those who love Indian sweets, Hoxton’s Mango Shrikhand Cardamom Yogurt with ginger short bread and kumquat sounds like a vibrant dish, bursting with flavor in each bite.
1oo Hoxton was designed by Yaojen Chuang, with an interior that reflects the aesthetic of the Bauhaus-inspired former council block in which the restaurant now resides. This spot is the latest venue by the team behind the successful Zilouf’s on Islington’s Upper Street, which is renowned for its exotic and original Asian-fusion cuisine in addition to its award winning cocktail offering. The food concept is simple, small sharing plates drawing mainly from Asian flavours, spices and ingredients. The ambiance is laid-back and the drinks are smooth.
